I have been riding mountain bikes since the age of 12. I started off just riding cross country style routes in the Mendip Hills where I grew up. As dirt jumping became more popular I bought a DMR Trailstar and started to build jumps locally with friends.
A friend introduced me to downhill racing; for a few years I entered races on my hardtail and managed to get some reasonable times. While I was at Aberystwyth University I decided to invest my student loan wisely and bought my first downhill bike. I completed a full race season before upgrading to an Orange 222 a few years later.
Since I moved to North Wales I have been very active in the local area building downhill tracks and dirt jumps. The North Wales Downhill scene has been growing a lot over the last few years and it is great to see places such as Foel Gasnach providing fantastic riding with the support of the forestry commission.
I am planning a full racing season for 2008 racing for Revolution Bikes. With their support I have finally replaced my 5 year old orange 222 (which was an awesome bike) with a more modern 224 evolution. After just one race I can report that it is an amazing ride.
I will be racing a selection of races from the Midlands Series, the Caersws Cup, Dragon Downhill and the National Series, as well as the local races (just for fun) at Foel Gasnach.
