Fourth round of the cross league

Round four of the Revolution Bikes winter cross series took place at Plas Ffrancon in Bethesda on the 13th of December, the same venue as round one. This time however some changes had been made to the course and the riders faced yet again a very challenging route. With clear but cold skies above the riders headed out on fields that had seen an overnight frost. This provided an extra challenge on the steep banks that dot this course, and had many a rider scrabbling for grip.
After the accustomed fast opening few laps, riders settled into their rhythm for the middle part of the race before winding things up for the latter stages. Races of this sort always provide a good spectacle, and this round didn't disappoint.
Leader of the series and the winner of the first two rounds Mathew Prichard (Revolution Bikes), soon established an unassailable lead which resulted in a third win. Chris Purt (Energy Cycles) again rode strongly to take second spot with Chris Kay clinching the final podium spot.

Winner of the veterans race was Pete Windsor (Llyn CC) who has shown good form at other rounds. Experienced visiting cross rider Ian Evans (Hallesowen CC) took second with the ever present Mark Baker (Deesise Olympic) clinching third spot.
It was good to see some new faces, some of who have never ridden cross before. We hope to see you all at Ysgol Botwnog School on the 3rd of January for the 5th round.
