Third round of the Cross League

Another new North Wales venue was unveiled for the 3rd Round of the TLI Wales / Revolution Bikes winter cyclolcross league at Prestatyn Leisure Centre organised by Deeside Olympic and Prestatyn Town Council on the 6th of December.

The course was a traditional design with the lap essentially split across two multi tiered playing fields with some very severe banks which require some dismounting and shouldering the bike every lap and some steep descents to test the riders skills.

Unlike the previous event in Amlwch the weather started off with blue skies and light breezes which probably helped attract some new faces, ladies and juniors from the east side of North Wales.  However the weather did not disappoint with a heavy shower and strong winds during the race.

Paul Bethell, (Macclesfield Wheelers), led from the start closely followed by Conan Mayman (Rhyll CC) for the first few laps before Pauls relentless pace separated the two riders.  In form Matt Prichard (Revolution Bikes) unfortunately missed the start of the race, starting half a lap down on the entire field.  Matt quickly made up for missing the start of the event by setting a strong pace and overtaking Conan to take second place with four laps to go.
